Data We Collect

SharedDog collects only what's needed to deliver a great pet-care experience:

Account information — email address, name, profile settings
Pet profiles — names, photos, breed, age, weight
Activity logs — feeding times, walks, health records
Schedules and reminders you create
Sharing permissions you grant to family members and caregivers

How We Use Your Data

Your data powers the core SharedDog experience:

Pet care tracking, scheduling, and shared activity timelines
Enabling collaboration with authorized family members and caregivers
Sending reminders and push notifications (when enabled)
Improving app functionality and user experience

Data Sharing

We share your data only in these limited cases:

With people you explicitly invite through our sharing feature
When required by law or to protect our legal rights
With service providers who help us operate the app (including cloud hosting on AWS, subscription management through RevenueCat, and payment processing through Stripe and app stores) — under strict confidentiality agreements

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

Payment & Subscription Processors

When you purchase a subscription, payments and subscription lifecycles are processed securely by our third-party billing providers:

RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — manages subscription status, receipts, and entitlement verification across Web, iOS (Apple App Store), and Android (Google Play Store).
Stripe (stripe.com) — processes web subscription payments securely. We never store payment card numbers on our servers.
Apple App Store & Google Play Store — process mobile in-app purchases and subscriptions.

Analytics & Cookies

We use a small number of analytics and diagnostics tools to understand how people find and use SharedDog and to fix problems:

PostHog — product analytics on this website and in the app (pages viewed, buttons used, the campaign that brought you here). It sets a first-party cookie shared by shareddog.com and app.shareddog.com so a visit can be linked to a later sign-up.
Google Analytics — aggregate visit statistics on this website.
Sentry — error and crash reports from the app, so we can fix bugs.

We don't send your pet profiles or activity logs to these tools. They can, however, see what is on screen while you use the app: on the web, PostHog session replays and the text of buttons you click may include details such as your pets' names. Session replays are kept for 30 days and are used only to fix problems and improve SharedDog. You can block or delete these tools' cookies in your browser settings at any time.

In the SharedDog app (web, iOS and Android) you can turn product analytics off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share usage analytics. The choice is saved on each device.

Waitlist pages

If you join a waitlist on shareddog.com/waitlist, we store the email address you enter (and, if you answer, your reply to the optional pricing question) in PostHog. We use it only to tell you when the product launches and to measure interest in it. We do not collect health information. To have your email deleted, write to [email protected].

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication (JWT + Cognito), and regular security audits. Your data lives on secure AWS cloud infrastructure with robust access controls.

Your Rights

You're always in control of your data:

Access and export all your data — go to Settings → Data & Privacy
Correct or update your information at any time
Delete your account and all associated data permanently
Control exactly who can access each pet profile through sharing settings
Opt out of notifications and reminders at any time

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where required by law to retain certain records. To prevent abuse of the free trial, we keep a one-way hash of your email address and the date you used the trial. It cannot be read back as an address and contains no other information about you.

Children's Privacy

SharedDog is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us immediately and we will remove it.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
